Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the St. Francis Referral Hospital and the Ifakara Health Institute are tackling Tuberculosis (TB) in eastern Tanzania. The three institutions belong to the TB network. Together, these partners are developing a laboratory information system that digitally transmits results from the central laboratory to peripheral, often rural, healthcare facilities in order to facilitate diagnosis and treatment. The app is also used for therapy monitoring and contributes to adherence.

The project is funded by the GIZ regional program University and Hospital Partnerships in Africa (HKP). The aim of this program is to train healthcare professionals of the future and to strengthen state-of-the–art research on topics relevant to global health.
