Else Kröner Fresenius Prize for Medical Development Cooperation

Hospital partners and interested professionals working on leprosy in low- and middle-income countries have the opportunity to apply for the Else Kröner-Fresenius Award for Medical Development Cooperation. This year's prize is intended to recognize outstanding projects and individuals working to improve medical care for leprosy in countries of the global South and is sponsored and awarded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation (EKFS). The prize is endowed with 100,000 EURO. The award ceremony is expected to take place in October 2023 in Berlin. Interested hospital partners can still apply until May 1, 2023.

Call for applications for the Tandem Professorship in Child Health

In addition, hospital partners* and interested professionals working on child health have the opportunity to apply for two newly created tandem professorships to sustainably strengthen patient care and research in a low-income country.

While the first professorship will be based at a German institution, the second will be filled in close cooperation and coordination with the first in a low-income country. The focus of both professorships will be on joint research, teaching, clinical care, consultation and training. The goals are to strengthen structural medical care and improve pediatric education locally. Both professorships will be supported by a total of 5 million euros in funding from EKFS for 5 years.

Physicians from university institutions or German institutions cooperating with them can still apply until March 31, 2023.

For more information on the application process, please visit the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation website.

In addition, funding is also available from EKFS for Ukraine emergency aid projects. The funding is intended to be used for medical support and is supported by a simplified application procedure by EKFS due to the urgent situation. Eligible to apply are German hospital partners who have structures and projects in Ukraine or in German refugee aid. Before applying, please contact Judith von Heusinger (j.heusinger@ekfs.de and +49 (6172) 8975-17).
